“[In] For Colored Girls, there’s an opportunity to see it repeatedly and hear new things.”
It demonstrates the miracle that happens when artists bravely offer their most visceral pains and joys to another artist’s text.
Below the portraits is an otherwise simple set that shape-shifts into hazy dreamscapes under the masterful lighting of Levi Wilkins.
Particular standouts for me included Holts’s subtle, sly comedic skill, Savannah’s lyrical dance performances, and Marie’s breathtaking performance of the show’s climactic monologue.
