U.S. 285 Remains Open, Cause of Fire Remains Under Investigation.
A wildfire in neighboring Saguache County in the northern San Luis Valley blazed up in the town of Villa Grove around 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 5.
Several fire crews from across the county responded to the blaze, which consumed several buildings.
Despite the fire being brought under control, hotspots flared up Thursday morning, Aug. 6, requiring continued monitoring and assistance from local fire departments.”
“The pile of rubble could flare back up several times because of the sheer volume of contents,” said the fire chief, who noted that the Northern Saguache County Fire Protection District continued monitoring it.
