Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan has set a one-month deadline to eliminate corruption from the Motorway Police, warning that officials involved in bribery or other corrupt practices will be dismissed and face criminal cases. He issued the directions during a video-link meeting with the All Pakistan Goods Transport Alliance, which was also attended by senior government officials and representatives of various goods transport organizations. He welcomed the agreement of goods transport owners on the policy and urged them to cooperate with the government in protecting the country’s motorway and highway infrastructure. The minister urged transporters to avoid extreme measures and resolve their concerns through dialogue. He invited representatives of the goods transport sector to Islamabad on Monday for further talks aimed at resolving outstanding issues.
