More than 5,000 healthcare professionals and 22 ambulances will be deployed across the Valencian Community as part of a major emergency operation for Wednesday’s solar eclipse.
The regional government’s healthcare plan includes doctors, nurses, porters and emergency medical technicians.
Opening hours will also be extended at 15 health centres close to official viewing locations, while hospital emergency departments and ophthalmology services will receive additional staff.
The reinforced eye units will be prepared to treat injuries caused by people viewing the eclipse without suitable protection.
Emergency medical resources will almost double for the event, with 13 additional units entering service and operating hours extended for nine others.
