While “dating the boss” is an old story, the Talarico campaign trying to massage the timeline to sidestep the inevitable ethics questioning has done little more than bring attention to it. A 2022 Texas Tribune interview with Salman Bhojani reveals that James Talarico used his position to secure a taxpayer-funded job for his soon-to-be girlfriend Brianna Menard. The Talarico campaign has acknowledged that Menard left his staff so that they could date. To make matters worse, Menard is not the first Texas House staffer who Talarico kindled a romantic relationship with.
