Freedom from a casinoThose who wanted a big, glitzy casino in Manhattan have had a rough few days. With the local Community Advisory Committee (CAC) voting against the Freedom Plaza casino proposal Monday morning, every Manhattan possibility for the three downstate New York casino licenses has been rejected. The proposal was denied via a 4-2 vote; voting for the project were Governor Kathy Hochul’s deputy policy director Nichols Silbersack and Jennifer Sta. Ines, New York City Mayor Eric Adams’ appointee to the CAC. Those that make it through will then be considered by the New York State Gaming Commission.
