(AP Photo/Elaine Thompson, File)With Cyclosporiasis cases on the rise in Missouri, local health officials are continuing to monitor numbers within the City of Joplin and provide guidance to residents. The Joplin Health Department has worked with grocery stores within the city limits to ensure this product has been pulled from shelves. In total, the CDC has reported nearly 7,000 cases in 15 states (6 new states as of yesterday). With new cases being reported in Joplin each week, health officials are reminding residents of some simple steps they can take to prevent contracting and spreading Cyclospora. Without treatment, symptoms can last anywhere from a few days to a month or longer.
