CARLSBAD — The City of Carlsbad plans to resurface approximately 47 miles of streets throughout the city. The Carlsbad Traffic Safety and Mobility Commission unanimously voted at its Aug. 3 meeting to recommend the 2026 Street Resurfacing Project to the City Council. The project calls for resurfacing approximately 39 miles of residential streets and 8 miles of arterial and collector streets, according to city documents. Many roadways in the Village, Barrio, La Costa and Bressi Ranch communities will receive slurry seal applications, while stretches of El Camino Real and Palomar Airport Road will receive a combination of slurry seal and asphalt overlay treatments, according to the documents. The city is scheduled to advertise bids for the project in August, with bids due in mid-September.
