Climate crisis demands addressing the elephant in the room | Letter

In response to the Aug. 2 op-ed “Cause for hope in the face of climate change,” several hopeful and worthwhile examples are shared. 1 cause of global climate change — the United States military — was missing. When we see what other countries, such as China, are doing to address the climate we see what is possible. But until we address the elephant in the room, the carbon footprint of the U.S. military, we cannot fully and positively respond in a meaningful way to the climate crisis. Mary DunnWhitefield
