If you’re about to take a bullet train ride on a hot summer day, you’ll be happy to know that Central Japan Railway Company has just installed a new station platform vending machine selling something cold and refreshing. As of August 7, travelers passing through Shin Osaka Station on the Tokaido Shinkansen line (which connects Osaka, Kyoto, and Tokyo) will find a Fuji Electric FFS107WFXU1 vending machine on Platform 27. Ordinarily this model is used to store and sell frozen foods, but the Shinkansen platform one is stocked entirely with Rock Ice Glass, containers of ice cubes. Rock Ice Glass comes in a plastic cup. The Rock Ice Glass vending machine is located on Platform 27 near where Car 6 of incoming Shinkansen trains stops.
