Nevada City Calif. – The candidate filing period has been extended for 16 local contests in the Nov. 3, 2026 General Election because the incumbents did not file for re-election by today (Aug. 7). The extended deadline to file is 5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12. The following offices have an extended filing period (offices with asterisks cross county lines and are still being vetted). Most candidates should file candidacy documents with the Nevada County Elections Office in Nevada City. Candidates running for city or town councils should file with their city or town clerk.
