Restoration of basic civic services and support for flood-affected families took centre stage at a review meeting held in Nazira on Thursday, where officials assessed recovery work across the co-district following the recent Dikhow floods.
The functioning of the Public Distribution System was also reviewed.
Officials assessed the availability and distribution of essential ration supplies in flood-affected areas and discussed measures to replace or update ration cards that were damaged or lost during the floods, ensuring that affected families continue to receive food assistance without disruption.
Representatives from the three municipalities, along with senior officials from the Housing and Urban Affairs Department, the Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs Department, the Assam Food and Civil Supplies Corporation, and the district administration, attended the meeting.
The review comes as many flood-hit localities in Nazira continue to recover from extensive damage caused by the Dikhow River, with residents still engaged in cleaning homes, restoring basic services and rebuilding their lives.
