Edited – Snow and icy weather is expected in the Eastern and Western Cape in South Africa, bringing cold to very cold, wet and windy conditions and rough sea conditions, with snowfalls over the mountainous areas.
According SAWS Weather Bureau and Snow Report, a cold front is possible from Sunday this weekend with an associated steep upper-air trough.
Road travel could be impacted in places as snow is likely in the southern half the country including Eastern Cape, Western Cape and other provinces, with more than 10 cm of snow and more than 25cm, and up to 60 cms of snow in higher elevations.
Major weather models currently indicate the possibility of more than 25cm of snow for the high-ground and mountain peaks in some areas, and up to 60cm for high elevations in the Eastern Cape.
SAWS has given a C level 2 warning of possible disruptive rain leading to localised flooding of susceptible settlements, roads and bridges in places over Koukamma Municipality of the Eastern Cape on Sunday.
