BRAINERD — Changes are coming to how members of the public can make their voices heard at Brainerd School Board meetings.
ADVERTISEMENTRankin’s first idea is a one-hour block of time from 4:30-5:30 p.m. before every regular board meeting for citizens to discuss topics of their choosing with the board.
Right now, board policy during the public comment portion of meetings does not allow for a back-and-forth discussion with the board.
While board members expressed general agreement to try this format, disagreement came when discussing changes to the public forum during the meetings.
Board member DJ Dondelinger said the simple solution to that issue would be to allow board or staff responses to people who might have wrong information.
