Sealife Adventure lodge appeal over canopy built millimetres wider than approved

The appeal relates to a retrospective application seeking to regularise changes made to an entrance canopy at the attraction on Eastern Esplanade.
Structure - Sealife Adventure has now lodged an appeal over its canopy rejection (Image: Martin Terry)A report prepared for Southend Council stated the structure remained a “suitably subservient, incidental and lightweight feature” and was considered policy compliant.
The appeal was submitted on behalf of Sealife Adventure owner Philip Miller by SK Architects.
He said: “We are appealing the Local Authority’s decision to refuse a variation of condition application regarding the canopy width at Sealife Adventure.
“The minor amendment to the previously approved canopy size had received full, formal support from the Local Authority’s own planning and highways officers.
