An Ethiopian couple based in Ohio, United States, has expanded its education support in Ethiopia with the inauguration of two digital libraries in Harar. Lemma Getachew and Dr. Guenet Endale, through the Lemma and Dr. Guenet Foundation, opened the facilities at Harar Secondary (Junior) School and Ras Mekonnen Elementary School. The libraries contain more than 6,000 books and are expected to give thousands of students greater access to digital learning resources. Edmond Tesfaye, the foundation’s Project and Strategic Planning Advisor, said the founders believe sustainable development starts with investing in young people. Dr. Guenet is among the pioneering female engineering lecturers at Addis Ababa University, while Lemma is a pharmacist, entrepreneur and real estate investor.
