A Bay Area county says it has scored a legal victory in its lawsuit against the Trump administration, adding that Friday’s court ruling could help keep thousands of formerly homeless people housed, including children and older adults.
The Trump administration previously announced new rules for how $4 billion in federal funding could be spent to combat homelessness across the country.

Friday, a federal court weighed in, ordering the Trump administration to throw out its new rules because HUD didn’t follow proper procedures in making the changes.
Applications for the billions in funding were supposed to be due by the end of the month, but the ruling leaves homeless advocates wondering when a new application, and the billions in funding, will be released.
