The UK investment management industry’s assets under management (AuM) rose 11% year on year to a record £11.1tn in 2025, according to the Investment Association (IA), the trade body representing UK investment managers. Assets managed on behalf of overseas clients grew 15% to £5.9tn, representing 53% of total UK-managed assets, up from 37% in 2016. North American client assets rose to £1.1tn, while the Asia-Pacific recorded the fastest growth among major regions, increasing 19% to £880bn. Domestic client assets rose to £5.2tn in 2025. At the same time, growth in defined contribution pensions, together with retail investment increasing its share of assets managed, shows the importance of individual investors to the UK investment management industry.
