SSEN confirmed its contractors were using concrete on the A968 north of Voe, in the North Mainland, known as the ‘Dales Lees’ road.
This is because the SIC’s tar-batching plant having been closed from 1st-23rd August.
The measure has been agreed with the council’s roads department and the temporary surface will be removed when the plant reopens later this month.
The”defective” condition of the sections of the A970 led to Shetland Islands Council issuing SSEN with an order in November to make improvements.
