The Washington Community School District provided thousands of meals to children with their free lunch program over the summer months. In July, they provided 3,599, and in June 4,676 meals were provided for a total of 8,275 meals given. Free meals will continue for area children this August in downtown Washington. For two weeks, following the end of the summer lunch program, youth ages 18 and under can receive a free packed lunch at the United Presbyterian Church. The lunches will be available August 10th through 14th, and August 17th through 21st from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. No dine-in option is available.
