Grab a cone with Maricopa police at free library eventMaricopa police are bringing back their Cops and Cones event later this month, continuing a series of community events aimed at helping residents get to know officers outside of emergency calls. The free event runs from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Aug. 26 at Maricopa Library & Cultural Center, 18160 N Maya Angelou Drive. Ice cream will be provided, courtesy of Maricopa Water and Ice. The gathering is the latest in a series of community outreach hosted by Maricopa Police Department. “We want residents to feel comfortable approaching our officers, asking questions, and getting to know the people behind the badge who are here to serve them,” the department said.
