Kathmandu, Aug 8: The government is rebuilding the ministers’ official residences at Bhaisipati, which were damaged during the Gen Z movement, at a cost of around Rs 400 million. Reconstruction of the damaged structures and interior works are underway, with the project scheduled for completion by the end of Ashoj. A contract worth Rs 86 million was signed for the 11 buildings, while reconstruction of the remaining 16 buildings was contracted for Rs 154.9 million. The government began constructing new ministers’ residences at Bhaisipati in 2019 after the old ministerial residences at Pulchowk became too cramped. However, within a year of coming into use, all the buildings were damaged by arson during the Gen Z movement.
