Avon Fire and Rescue Service (AF&RS) is launching a drive for full-time firefighters, inviting applications regardless of where candidates live. Luke Gazzard, assistant chief fire officer, said: "We are delighted to launch our wholetime firefighter recruitment campaign at the beginning of next week ahead of a training school in spring 2027. The recruitment process includes online questionnaires and ability tests before inviting candidates to complete a full application form. The role also includes delivering safety messages through Home Fire Safety Visits, educational sessions with young people and attending local events. Fully qualified firefighters earn a salary of £40,358, plus a benefits package that includes enrolment in a pension scheme, access to private healthcare, and ongoing training and development opportunities.
