Pell was caught on an automatic speed camera device driving at 57mph, while a temporary maximum speed restriction of 50mph was in place. Appearing at Swindon Magistrates Court on Tuesday, August 4, Pell pleaded guilty to exceeding a temporary 50mph speed restriction on a motorway. The court heard that German was driving along the M4 junction 20 to 19 eastbound and the M5 junctions 15 to 17. An automatic camera device captured German driving at 62mph, despite a 50mph variable speed limit being in place at the time. On busy stretches of the M4 — particularly between junctions 19 and 20 — speed limits often drop to 50mph or 60mph because of congestion, roadworks or safety concerns.
