Wiltshire Council will launch a School Streets pilot at four schools across the county from September, in a bid to improve safety for children and their families.
This pilot will take place at Aloeric Primary School in Melksham, Fynamore Primary School in Calne, Minster Primary School in Warminster and Queen's Crescent Primary School in Chippenham, all of which have volunteered to take part.
Traffic will be restricted on roads around these schools at the start and end of the school day during term time, with specific times varying at each school.
This process will last for 18 months, during which time residents, parents, schools, businesses and the wider community will be able to give feedback on the scheme.
“This helps us meet the clear commitments in Our Wiltshire Plan to have safer roads and promote walking and cycling.
