The candidate filing period has closed for Fort Smith’s municipal elections, with seven candidates qualifying for the city’s mayoral race. Fort Smith voters may also decide whether to change the city’s form of government. Three seats on the Fort Smith Board of Directors are also on the November ballot. Four candidates filed for At-Large Position 5, while three candidates filed for At-Large Position 6. Incumbent Neal Martin was the only candidate to file for At-Large Position 7 and has been elected without opposition.
