Warrington paraglider dies in tragic accident in Spain

Stephan Metcalfe, of Knutsford Road, Grappenhall, was an ‘experienced’ paraglider and had travelled to Villafranca in Spain to take part in the sport.
The inquest, led by Cheshire area coroner Victoria Davies, heard that, during the solo fly, Mr Metcalfe ‘hit some serious turbulence while coming to land in a field’ and suffered fatal injuries.
Concluding the inquest, Coroner Davies said: “Stephen Metcalfe was a computer engineer.
“He was an experienced paraglider who was on holiday in Spain for the sport.
Ms Davies ruled the death as an accident and offered her condolences to the family and friends of Mr Metcalfe.
