The demolition of outbuildings and the construction of a single-storey extension and garage in Windermere have been signed off by the Lake District National Park Authority.
The plans include replacing existing lean-to sheds with a wraparound extension at the rear of the home and building a detached, pitched-roof garage in the front side garden.
However, planning officers concluded that the proposed works would not harm the character of the area or neighbouring properties.
While the rear portion of the extension will use concrete tiles, the side projection will be finished in matching slate.
Planning officers noted that the hedges are non-native species and that their removal would not be grounds for refusal.
