The landmark was lit up yellow last Saturday as part of a project led by Harwich Town Council in partnership with Tendring Council and the Harwich Society. The council previously installed specialist lighting equipment at the historic structure and holds a licence to illuminate the lighthouse on up to 12 occasions a year. Harwich Town Council said the tribute recognised the important role the lifeboat crew continues to play in the town. Councillor Garry Calver, who led the lighthouse illumination project, added: “Harwich Town Council is delighted that, on behalf of the entire community, we can show our thanks, respect and appreciation to everyone who is, or has been, part of Harwich RNLI.”
