The South African Police Service (SAPS) in the Namakwa District continues to intensify its fight against drug-related crime through intelligence-driven operations aimed at dismantling local drug networks. On Friday, 07 August 2026, members of the Namakwa District Task Team, supported by Namakwa Crime Intelligence, conducted two successful search-and-seizure operations in Leliefontein and Kharkams. During the early hours of the morning, police executed a search operation at the residence of a suspected drug dealer in Leliefontein. Police confiscated suspected drugs and cash, which is believed to be the proceeds of illegal drug sales. The District Commissioner of SAPS Namakwa, Brigadier Schalk Andrews, commended the members of the Namakwa District Task Team and Namakwa Crime Intelligence for their professionalism, dedication, and relentless efforts in combating drug-related crime.
