On August 8, 2011, gunmen suspected to be members of Boko Haram attacked Bisichi village in Plateau State, killing five people and injuring four others. The injured were taken to a nearby hospital,” a Plateau State police spokesperson said Tuesday. In a separate incident the same day, Boko Haram gunmen killed two people in Maiduguri, Borno State. Security sources said the victims were a senior prison official and a school teacher. Since 2009, Boko Haram has carried out a series of targeted killings in Maiduguri as part of its insurgency in northeastern Nigeria.
