The number of job openings in the construction industry reached 305,000 in June, according to the recently released U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Job Opening and Labor Turnover Survey. Openings have increased by an estimated 14,000 since May and 81,000 since June 2025. “Interpreting these data is often challenging,” Anirban Basu, chief economist at Associated Builders and Contractors, said in a statement. “One could take these figures at face value and conclude that construction is thriving and driving demand for workers higher. Indeed, ABC’s Construction Confidence Indicator shows that the average contractor expects rising revenues and employment over the next six months.”
