Michigan State Police have released the final traffic crash data for 2025, showing that traffic fatalities in the state dropped from the year before, but the overall number of crashes was up while fatalities in some specific categories were up.
“Bicyclist fatalities increased 21%, from 29 in 2024 to 35 in 2025,” Vetter said.
Pedestrian fatalities increased 18%.
Also, drug-involved fatalities decreased 23%, alcohol-involved fatalities were down 14%, and teen fatalities fell by 21%.
Vetter says Michigan State Police continue to urge drivers to slow down, buckle up, and ditch the distractions when behind the wheel.
