The Very Rich Pay Their Fair Share Act will not be on the November 2026 ballot in Oregon. Filed last December by former National Writers Union president Jonathan Tasini, the prospective initiative proposed to impose a tax of 2% a year on the assets of about 4,600 Oregon taxpayers who have $30 million or more in net worth. But the campaign submitted no further signatures after its initial submission of 1,453 signatures to qualify for circulation. To make it on the ballot as a statutory initiative, it would have had to submit 117,173 signatures by July 2.
