The Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) has published a list of 140 controlled medicines that travellers can bring into or take out of Qatar under specified conditions as part of its newly launched electronic permit system for controlled medicines. Limits On MedicinesMOPH has set limits on the quantity of controlled medicines travellers may carry:Narcotic medicines: up to 10 days’ prescribed treatmentPsychotropic medicines: up to 60 days’ prescribed treatmentTravellers who have not obtained prior approval must declare any narcotic or psychotropic medicines on arrival and provide a valid prescription and medical report if requested. Additional Treatment In QatarThe Ministry noted that travellers requiring additional medication during their stay in Qatar must consult a licensed physician in the country. For injectable controlled medicines, approval and administration must take place through a licensed healthcare facility in Qatar. The guidance forms part of MOPH’s efforts to streamline procedures while ensuring compliance with regulations governing controlled medicines.
