The Confederation of African Football’s (CAF) executive committee unanimously backed FIFA’s response to controversy over the proposed FIFA Forward Enterprise and reaffirmed its support for FIFA President Gianni Infantino, according to a statement on Thursday. CAF said FIFA President Gianni Infantino and Secretary General Mattias Grafström acknowledged shortcomings in the process surrounding the proposed enterprise, particularly over concerns that the FIFA Council and member associations had been excluded. The CAF executive committee also unanimously reaffirmed its support for Infantino and thanked him for his contributions to African football. CAF also praised the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the ongoing Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco. CAF said it continues preparations for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, while pursuing new sponsors, partners, and investment in football infrastructure.
