The sheriff’s office continues to receive reports of callers falsely identifying themselves as law enforcement officers or court officials in an attempt to steal money from unsuspecting victims, officials said in a news release Friday. As part of the scam, victims are receiving fraudulent court documents designed to make the calls appear legitimate. “In one recent case, a store employee recognized the scam and attempted to warn the victim,” officials said. The sheriff’s office is asking people to share this information with other people.
