Published August 7, 2026Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...Dorothy “Atwood” Reece peacefully went to meet Jesus on Aug. 6, 2026, at home in Elizabethton, Tennessee. She was born March 16, 1934, and lived her life in Gap Creek and Butler, Tennessee. She retired from the Undergarment Factory in Elizabethton and was proud of the sewing machines she collected, even one from her time there. She loved her family, friends and just sitting on the front porch soaking up the sunshine. Left to celebrate her life are her son, Brian (Kathy) Reece, Boones Creek; granddaughter, Constance (Joe) Cole, Elizabethton; great-grandchildren, Kaleb (Jamie) Myers, Kara Cole, Gracie Yoder and Cameron Cole, all of Elizabethton; and two special great-great-grandchildren, Ezra and Emmerson Johnson, of Elizabethton, whom she adored.
