A Highlander in LondonA HULI dancer from the Highlands of PNG checks his makeup before a performance in London at “The Music Village”.
The centrepiece of the Commonwealth Institute’s 1988 “Pacific Way”, the Music Village brought the atmosphere and excitement of the South Pacific to London with a colorful summer festival of music and dance.
Four South Pacific groups were featured, including the Melpa and Huli people from PNG.
The Institute’s “Pacific Way” program is designed to promote cultural development, ensure lasting co-operation between Britain and the South Pacific, and to create practical opportunities for contact between the two regions.
