Donna Carter, co-manager of the Franklin County Humane Society’s New Leash on Life thrift store, takes a break in a recliner that had just arrived at the store.
Carter and Bishop are the only paid personnel at the facility, officially called New Leash on Life and Architectural Savage.
Humane Society shelter manager Kerry Lowary said she doesn’t know what the society would do without New Leash.
Items are taken into the preparation area, where they are cleaned and minor repairs are made before they move to the sales floor.
Carter says more help is needed in that area, particularly from those who have some expertise with donations calling for electricity.
