Legal marijuana sales in Montana reached $29,992,180 in July, marking the second-highest monthly total recorded since recreational sales began. According to data from the Montana Department of Revenue, July sales included $27,283,061 in adult-use marijuana and $2,709,119 in medical marijuana. Since recreational sales began in January 2022, Montana has recorded $1,465,906,482 in combined medical and adult-use marijuana sales through July 2026. Adult-use marijuana sales are subject to a 20% state tax, while medical marijuana is taxed at 4%. Counties may impose an additional local marijuana tax of up to 3% on recreational sales, medical sales or both.
