The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has blocked MicroStar Logistics’ proposed acquisition of Konvoy’s assets, finding the deal would likely substantially reduce competition in Australia’s keg pooling market. MicroStar, which operates as Kegstar in Australia, and Konvoy are currently the only two suppliers of keg pooling services in the country. MicroStar notified the ACCC of its proposed acquisition in February 2026, after previously seeking informal merger clearance for the transaction in June 2025. “We found that MicroStar acquiring the assets of Konvoy, the only other provider of keg pooling services in Australia, would be likely to substantially lessen competition,” Dr Williams said. However, the ACCC found there remains a realistic prospect of another buyer acquiring Konvoy and continuing to operate the business, preserving competition in the keg pooling market.
