The federal government announced Friday it has conditionally sold 10 former Royal Canadian Air Force CC-130H Hercules aircraft to Coulson Aviation Canada. The work will be led by Coulson Aviation Canada and its engineering, manufacturing, maintenance and operations teams in B.C., with the company saying the acquisition is expected to create additional skilled work in those fields. “And no better company than Coulson Aviation that has the experience, the knowledge, the expertise, and the reputation to be able to convert these CC-130Hs, which they’ve done in the past, and use them.” The Hercules aircraft were among a fleet of 12 CC-130Hs retired by the Royal Canadian Air Force in January. “Firefighters on the ground need aircraft overhead that can get there quickly, carry a meaningful load and keep working,” said Coulson Aviation Canada CEO Wayne Coulson.
