The Woro community was attacked on February 3 by armed bandits who reportedly killed more than 100 residents and abducted 176 people, mostly women and children. According to Salihu, the few security personnel currently stationed in the area are overstretched and unable to respond effectively during emergencies. He maintained that the establishment of a permanent military base would improve security response, prevent future attacks and restore confidence among residents. After spending about six months in captivity, 163 victims were released, but concerns remain over the whereabouts of the remaining 13 residents. Community leaders have continued to call for stronger security measures, including the establishment of a Nigerian Army battalion in Kaiama, to prevent further attacks.
