Brett Worger, 42, of Tongham Road, Aldershot, appeared before Basingstoke Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, August 5, charged with theft from a shop, contrary to the Theft Act 1968. The court heard that on May 9 this year, Worger stole a tub of Ben & Jerry's ice cream, worth £6, from a Co-op store on Lower Farnham Road, Aldershot. Prosecuting, the court was told Worger had 47 previous convictions for theft and was on licence at the time for other shoplifting offences committed in March this year.
