This led to a long running dispute between Chiltern Railways, who are in charge of the operation of the line, and the trade unions.

Diana Blamires, co-founder of East West Rail Action Group has said now the service will definitely not be open until December, as previously thought.
There were also proposals for West Midlands Trains to carry out work at Winslow Station, part of Chiltern Railways’ East West Rail route, which the union are concerned about.
Mr Dempsey said the new role does not meet the expectations of the union and the East West Rail line "must have a second safety critical member of staff on board".
