OpenAI is planning to make Astra, its upcoming and highly capable AI model, generally available to the public, CEO Sam Altman has said. In a post on X, Altman said Astra is a powerful model and that OpenAI is working toward making it generally available. However, OpenAI has already provided some indication of what its internal version can do. Earlier this month, OpenAI researchers said an internal version of Astra produced advances on 10 long-standing problems in mathematics, quantum complexity and theoretical computer science. These results come from an internal version of the model and should not be treated as evidence of what the eventual public version will necessarily be able to do.
