The presiding Magistrate, Festus Akinlolu, handed down the sentence after the defendant pleaded guilty to the charges brought against him by the police. In his judgement, Akinlolu sentenced Odey to two years’ imprisonment on the first count and another two years on the second count, ordering that both sentences run concurrently. Earlier in the proceedings, the prosecutor, Inspector James Usifo, informed the court that the defendant voluntarily pleaded guilty to all counts.
