WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump signed an order Thursday to set minimum import prices and new tariffs on products made using polysilicon, a key material for solar panels and semiconductors.
It also outlined minimum import prices for polysilicon and goods like wafers and solar cells to take effect on the same date.
So this will bring the supply chain here," Lutnick told reporters at the White House on Thursday.
The Commerce Department launched an investigation in July 2025 on polysilicon imports, under Section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act of 1962.
While the investigation did not initially name countries, China is a major player in the world's solar supply chain.
