Bhubaneswar: A rape accused who escaped from the Women's Police Station in Bhubaneswar while in police custody has been arrested by the Commissionerate Police in Bengaluru, officials said.
The accused, a resident of Bhadrak district, allegedly fled custody on the pretext of stepping out for breakfast, triggering a security lapse at the police station.
A case was subsequently registered at Capital Police Station in Bhubaneswar, and a special team was constituted to track him down.
The accused will be interrogated further in connection with the rape case as well as his escape from police custody.
"After escaping from police custody, the accused was tracked for eight days.
